Presented are some of the popular verbs in simple continuous tense that might come handy for young learners. These can be use in sentence construction or for daily conversation. I recommend for my students to memorize them and try to use it as much as possible in order to understand the usage in context.

The sentences suggested are in the form of simple sentences. If you are a high proficiency student, I would suggest adjective and adverb to be added in the sentences.


1. Walking

The boy is walking.


2. Kicking

The boy is kicking a ball.

3. Falling

The boy is falling from the wall.

4. Talking

The girl is talking.

5. Writing

The boy is writing.

6. Drawing

The girl is drawing.

7. Looking

The boy is looking at the flower.

8. Smelling 

The girl is smelling the flowers.

9. Blowing

The boy is blowing a balloon.

10. Clapping

The boy is clapping.

11. Singing

The girl is singing.

12. Listening

The girl is listening to song.

13. Licking

The boy is licking an ice-cream.

14. Sitting

The boy is sitting.

15. Reading

The boy is reading.

16. Catching

 The boy is catching a ball.

17. Eating

The boy is eating.

18. Throwing

The boy is throwing a ball.

19. Skipping

The girl is skipping.

20. Running

The boy is running.



There are many other verbs that are commonly used. However, I wish to highlight few of those which are frequently featured in the exams. If you have any other verbs that you find helpful to you, please add to the comment below. Thanks!
