Week 19 Reflection: High Energy, Happy Chaos & A Proud Premiere 🎬✨

Thursday, June 18, 2026

Week 19 was one of my good weeks.

You know those weeks when everything seems to move quickly, your energy is high, ideas keep coming, and somehow you manage to get through a mountain of work? This was one of those weeks.

Perhaps I should thank my perimenopause for giving me a temporary break from the fog and fatigue 😆.

Because next week… well… let’s just say that is a different reflection altogether. Hahaha.

A Proud Mama Moment 💙

This week started with a wedding anniversary trip to Pekan.

The trip was also an opportunity to fetch my fourth-born son after completing his Latihan Khidmat Negara programme.

The highlight?

Watching him perform kawad.

I looked at him and thought:

“Who is this young man?”

The transformation was remarkable. Gone was the spoiled 17-year-old I knew so well. In his place stood someone more disciplined, more confident, and more independent.

Of course, he is still my son 😆, but I was genuinely proud of him.

English Month Excitement 🎭📚

A large part of the week revolved around preparations for English Month.

This included preparing the Perky Piung mascot costume.

Now, let us just say…

The costume did not turn quite as lovely as I had imagined 🤣.

But I was more concerned on my mascot. At one point, I seriously considered:

“Maybe next year I should audition a perkier student to become Perky Piung.”

Poor Piung.

Still, English Month launched successfully, and that was what mattered most.

Learning Through Songs, Games and Movement 🎵🎨

For 2Z, we continued working on the song from Page 72.

The learners sang, performed gestures, and drew pictures of objects from different rooms in the house.

Although we never seemed to have enough time to finish everything, I enjoyed seeing them respond through movement and actions.

Later in the week, I divided them into groups:

🏠 Living Room
🏠 Bathroom
🏠 Garden
🏠 Cellar
🏠 Kitchen
🏠 Bedroom

Using songs played at different speeds, learners listened carefully and responded whenever their assigned room was mentioned.

Simple activity.

Lots of fun.

Lots of energy.

Exactly what Year 2 learners need.

3Z: Grammar in Disguise 🃏✨

For 3Z, we focused on:

👉 Have got / Has got

We started with songs, gestures, writing and drawing before moving into relay games and card-making activities.

One of my favourite activities involved showing grammar cards while learners raced forward according to the correct pronoun.

Suddenly grammar became movement.

And movement became learning.

I always enjoy seeing language come alive like that.

5B: Writing Improvement ✍️

For 5B, we spent time correcting UPSA email writing tasks.

Learners worked in groups to identify correct sentences and analyse the requirements of effective email writing.

Looking at their scripts reminded me that writing is not just about grammar.

It is about understanding purpose, audience and structure.

There is still work to be done, but I can see progress.

Perky Piung Vocabulary Power 🐢✨

One achievement I am especially proud of this week was successfully launching Perky Piung Vocabulary Power.

Students participated online through Google Forms and could attempt the quiz as many times as they wanted from Thursday until Saturday night.

And yes…

I actually followed my animation publishing timeline too! 🎬

Trailer.

Behind-the-scenes.

Premiere.

Everything according to schedule.

I was ridiculously proud of myself 🤣.

Final Thoughts 🤍

This week was hectic.

Busy.

Loud.

Chaotic.

But it was also one of those weeks where I felt alive and productive.

There were songs.

Games.

Grammar.

Writing.

English Month activities.

And somewhere in between all that, I managed to publish an animation project that I had worked hard on.

Alhamdulillah 🤍.

Weeks like this remind me why I love teaching, creating and learning.

Now excuse me while I enjoy this productive week before next week’s reflection arrives with all its perimenopausal drama 😆✨.
