🌈 Week 22 Reflection: Learning Happy Hours! 🐢✨

Monday, July 06, 2026

If I had to give this week a title, it would simply be…

Learning Happy Hours!

😄🎉

This week reminded me why I love teaching. Not because every lesson went perfectly (oh, definitely not! 🤣), but because I genuinely enjoyed watching my learners learn. Somewhere between grammar, recorder lessons, storytelling, group work and number games, I realised I was smiling a lot more this week.

Perhaps the biggest lesson wasn’t for my learners after all.

Perhaps it was for me.

Allah was teaching me to trust. 🤍

📚 Learning Together Instead of Learning From Me

One of my happiest moments happened in my Year 5B class.

This week I organised my learners into paragraph groups, expert groups and discussion groups. Instead of explaining every paragraph myself, I asked them to become the experts and teach one another.

Honestly…

I LOVE lessons like this! 😍

Was it perfect?

Absolutely not. 🤣

Some groups wandered off topic. Some depended too much on stronger friends. Some were probably discussing lunch instead of the main idea. 🍗😂

But as I walked around listening to their conversations, I realised something.

I didn’t have to carry the lesson on my shoulders.

Sometimes the best thing a teacher can do is quietly step aside and allow learning to happen.

That thought made me smile. 😊

It also reminded me that my classroom is slowly becoming a place where learners think for themselves instead of waiting for Teacher Asniem to provide every answer.

And that makes me incredibly happy. 🌱

🐢 Perky Piung Is Officially My Teaching Assistant 😂

Perky Piung appeared in grammar class again this week!

At this point, she isn’t just a classroom mascot anymore.

She literally sits beside me throughout the lesson, quietly watching everyone do their work. 🐢💚

The learners absolutely love her.

The moment she appears, the classroom atmosphere changes.

This week she helped us learn is, are, isn’t and aren’t through speaking activities, group work and role-play.

Who knew a little turtle could become such an effective grammar teacher? 😂

I think she’s earned her salary by now. 🤣

🔢 2Z – Choosing Patience Over Speed 💛

This week tested my patience.

Not because of my learners.

Because of…

✨ my expectations. ✨

I kept asking myself,

“Should I move on to numbers 11–20?”

Or…

“Should I stay with numbers 1–10 until they are really ready?” 🤔

Every teacher knows that feeling.

The syllabus whispers,

“Keep moving…”

But my learners were whispering something different.

“Teacher… we still need more time.”

So I chose patience.

We continued spelling, counting, drawing and playing together. 🎲

Our Line Up According to Numbers game became one of my favourite moments of the week. Watching them cooperate so naturally reminded me that learning isn’t a race.

Perhaps the lesson wasn’t wrapped up perfectly.

But it was wrapped up comfortably.

And I think comfortable learning is exactly what six- and seven-year-olds need. 🤍

🎼 A Hidden Talent I Almost Missed

One of my biggest surprises happened during Music class.

Many learners were away attending Science Camp, so the class was much smaller than usual.

For the first time, I could actually listen to every learner play the recorder individually.

And then…

I discovered one boy.

He couldn’t read musical notes.

Yet he simply watched my fingers.

Listened carefully.

And played the melody almost perfectly. 🎶

SubhanAllah.

His talent had always been there.

I just hadn’t noticed it because the class was usually so noisy.

It made me wonder…

How many hidden gifts do our learners have that we simply haven’t had the chance to notice yet? 🤍

🎤 English Month… I’m Going to Miss You! 🥹

English Month is ending next week…

And honestly?

I’m already feeling a little sad. 😭💛

This week I spent the whole day emceeing and judging the Storytelling Competition. 🎙️

Watching my learners stand confidently on stage made me feel incredibly proud.

What made me even happier was seeing how willing they were to participate whenever I encouraged them.

Even their parents messaged me afterwards.

I made sure to thank every one of them because I sincerely hope these small conversations encourage more parental involvement in their children’s English learning journey. ❤️

I am also so proud of my English Panel.

We worked together.

Supported one another.

Solved problems together.

And somehow managed to organise an English Month filled with meaningful activities.

Alhamdulillah. 🤍

I’m really going to miss it.

🏡 Home… Where My Heart Finds Rest ❤️

After school, I found myself sleeping a lot this week. 😴

Ahhh…

My “tired week” has arrived.

Perimenopause really has its own timetable. 😂

But home was peaceful.

Uwais continued progressing well with his Quran lessons. 📖

We spent time looking at his drawings, chatting before bed and simply enjoying each other’s company.

Then one evening, as we were getting ready to sleep, he quietly said,

“Mama… make du’a for me so that I can become clever.” 🥹

Ya Allah…

My heart almost melted.

I calmly made the du’a for him, and ever since that night, we’ve started making that same du’a together before bed. 🤲

What touched me wasn’t that he knows learning is difficult for him.

It was that his first instinct was…

to ask Allah.

May Allah always keep that beautiful habit in his heart. 🤍

This week also brought wonderful news for my family. 🥹

🏹 My daughter qualified to represent Terengganu at the National Religious School Archery Championship after finishing first in the state for her category!

Before the competition, she cried because she wanted it so badly.

Seeing her perseverance rewarded reminded me that sincere effort is never wasted with Allah.

Alhamdulillah. 🤍

And my fourth son officially registered for Nursing this week. 🩺

Ever since returning from PLKN, I have witnessed such a beautiful transformation in him.

He has become more thoughtful.

More independent.

More focused.

Sometimes I smile because it feels as though he has returned to the pure-hearted little boy I once knew.

May Allah grant him istiqamah throughout this new journey.

Aamiin. 🤲

🎬 One Scene at a Time

My animation project is still moving…

Slowly. 😂

I managed to generate several scene images this week.

Still behind schedule.

Still too many ideas.

Still not enough hours in the day. 🤣

But that’s okay.

Little by little.

Scene by scene.

One day Episode 1 will be complete.

Insya-Allah. 🎬🐢✨

🤍 What Allah Taught Me This Week

This week…

Allah taught me one simple lesson.

Ask Him.

He chose me for Tahajjud several times this week. 🤍

My prayers weren’t perfect.

Sometimes my concentration wandered.

Sometimes I was tired.

But…

I showed up.

And perhaps that is what matters most.

Allah also reminded me to look around and count my blessings.

My family. ❤️

My students. 📚

My work. 🌈

The opportunities He continues to place in my life.

There is so much nikmat that I sometimes forget to notice because I’m too busy looking at what still needs to be done.

🌿 Final Reflection

This week, I realised something beautiful.

I can accomplish difficult things…

when I stay focused,

manage my time well,

and ask Allah for help. 🤲

And when things don’t go according to my plans…

I must learn to accept them with redha, trusting that Allah’s plans are always better than mine. 🤍

When I think about what I hope my students remember from this week, I don’t hope they remember Present Continuous.

Or number words.

Or reading strategies.

I hope they remember something much simpler.

😊 That I smiled.

🤝 That I helped.

❤️ That I cared.

Because long after they forget grammar rules and vocabulary…

I hope they remember how they felt in my classroom.

If they remember that…

then perhaps I have fulfilled a small part of the amanah Allah has entrusted to me.

And for that…

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ’Alamin. 🤍🌿✨
