One of the sweetest things about teaching is seeing how excited my students are to help out in class. Every day, they compete (in the nicest way!) to be the one who distributes books, collects books, becomes the reading coach, or even carries Perky Piung back to the staffroom. Some of them even volunteer to carry my bag and water bottle. I know they mean well—although maybe the sweets on my table are also part of the motivation! 😂🍬

To celebrate this wonderful spirit of helpfulness, I created a special Perky Piung Helper Tag. It comes as a set with a front and back design. On one side, Perky Piung says, “Thank you for your hard work.” On the other side, the words “Perky Piung Proud Helper” shine brightly to show off the role of the day’s helper.

This tag is worn proudly by the chosen helper, reminding everyone that lending a hand is something to be proud of. It’s not just about the sweets or the fun of carrying books—it’s about teamwork, kindness, and making our classroom a happier place.

Since my last article on Bansho, I had the chance to apply what I learn during my workshop with the year 6 students. While it is easy to read and write article on it, the application part needed some thought and review because I want to be true as not to erase anything and yet keep the content relevant throughout the lesson!

This is my first try on Bansho at a school.

Stumbling upon this Indonesian movie last week, was coincidental. In conjunction with the Merdeka 59th celebration this month, I believe this movie is a must watch. Set in present day Jakarta, it dwells on the issues such as poverty, child labour, education, corruption, unemployment in a light-hearted manner. Teachers may share the lessons from the movie to enlighten learners on issues that are universal and real. Deep thoughts and reflection are required in order for both teachers and learners to understand the role they play in modern day society.

I love these apps! Recently, I had the chance to introduce it to my teachers during a course. These apps help me to manage behaviour, responses, workshop materials and ideas. I found that teachers learn to appreciate technology in the classroom as they went along the activities in the workshop.

This app may be used on both phone and computer platform. Firstly, I create questions and multiple choice answer. Then I projected the question on a screen and the teachers will show me their plicker cards. The plicker cards must be in the orientation of the intended answer. I scanned their answers using my phone and teachers will see their responses recorded on the projected display. Teachers were excited to get their responses recorded and they will call to my attention if theirs weren't tabulated. And oh, the app is available on both iOS and android.

Ting! It was the sound my teachers loooovee to hear! It meant reward for them and I found them looking for ways to get points. I reward my teachers when they observed the time, kept the area clean, asked questions, give suggestions and working hard on task. Some of the teachers were also penalized for noise, but hey it's ok. It was to demonstrate how the app work. I downloaded the app from PlayStore, but I am not sure whether it is available on Apple Store. What I love most about the app is the report that you can generate at any time and if you want to use it in class, you can get the parents connected.
