Week 16 Reflection: Little by Little 🌱✨

Tuesday, May 12, 2026

Week 16 is here!

And honestly, this week felt like one of those slow but meaningful weeks. Not dramatic. Not magical. But when I sit down and think about it carefully… I can see progress happening quietly 🤍.

2Z – Back on Track (Teacher Too 😆)🔤📅

For 2Z, since I realised last week that I had accidentally taught them a Year 1 topic 😭, I decided to reset and move into something more suitable:

👉 Days of the Week
linked together with
👉
Free Time Activities

And of course… we sang 😆🎶

We sang the song multiple times in every class. I also emphasised the free time vocabulary through:

✨ drawing
✨ gestures
✨ reading
✨ writing

Honestly?
I’m still not sure how many learners truly grasped the lesson through expression and speaking 😅.

But I intend to soldier on in the coming lessons 💪✨

Sometimes language learning feels like planting seeds quietly and waiting patiently 🌱.

3Z – Drilling, Patterns & A Little Disappointment📝😮‍💨

For 3Z, we moved into a new topic focused on activities. Hidden inside the topic was the simple continuous tense 👀✨.

We worked on all the language skills, but I intentionally focused more on:

📖 reading
✍️ writing

Especially through:
👉 substitution tables

And honestly?
I LOVE this method.

I believe that over time, learners begin developing a kind of muscle memory 🧠✨. They start recognising whether a sentence “sounds right” or not.

Ironically, this reminds me of my own primary school days 😂. My teachers drilled us with substitution tables until I was bored to death.

But now?

Alhamdulillah 🤍
I understand why they did it.

The Spelling Activity 😭

During the last class of the week, I conducted a spelling activity.

And honestly…
I was disappointed 😮‍💨.

Many groups scored 0, even though it was group work. Only one group managed to score 80.

At first, I felt discouraged. But after reflecting, I realised:

👉 they simply need more exposure
👉 more repetition
👉 more drilling

So yes… more substitution tables are coming 😆✨

I want those sentence structures to become a permanent fixture in their brains.

For 5B, class time was limited because many learners were involved in STEM Week activities.

Piung Play Pass Chaos🐢🎟️😂

I finally introduced:

The Piung Play Pass

And oh my…

The learners became VERY competitive 😆.

Even some of my lower proficiency learners managed to earn the pass, which made me so happy 🥹💛.

Of course…

There was chaos 😂:

  • hogging play items
  • not sharing
  • shouting matches between learners who got the pass and those who didn’t

Gen Alpha is certainly… a lot of work 😮‍💨🤣

But despite the chaos, I think this was a really good first step.

I believe that in the coming weeks, they will slowly understand:
👉 expectations
👉 sharing
👉 self-regulation in the play area

At least… that is the teacher’s hope 😆✨

Little Gifts, Big Feelings🎁🤍

This week, I also received:
✨ drawings
✨ bookmarks
✨ whiteboard magnets

from my 3Z learners 🥹💛

They love giving me little pieces of their treasures.

And honestly…
I treasure them too.

Seeing their faces light up when I simply say:
👉 “Thank you.”

made me realise how much influence I actually have on them 🌷.

I truly hope they can thrive in their learning as much as they seem to love me 😭🤍 hahaha.

Climbing Out of the Mud🌤️

Another thing worth celebrating:

✨ I’ve started posting more frequently again on Perky Piung social media 🐢📱✨

Little by little…
I feel like I’m getting out of the mud.

Slowly. Gently. But surely 🌱.

The Naughty Ones (Progress Version 😆)👀✨

And one more thing that made me quietly happy:

Some of my “naughty” learners from 2Z and 3Z have started to:
✨ focus more during lessons
✨ stay engaged for longer periods
✨ complete their work

Now…am I expecting neat handwriting and beautiful colouring yet?

😆 Absolutely not.

For now, my focus is:
👉 attention
👉 focus
👉 task completion

One brick at a time 🧱✨

Final Reflection🤍

This week reminded me that growth is not always loud.

Sometimes it looks like:
🌱 a learner finally focusing
🌱 a child completing work
🌱 a teacher trying again
🌱 a small restart after difficult weeks

And honestly?

That is enough.

Alhamdulillah 🤍✨
